My Cello Stand

I needed a good place to put my cello when not in use. I had the following requirements:

  1. It should be fast to place the cello in the stand, for instance when the phone rings.
  2. There should be no need to slide in the end pin.
  3. The stand should be in-expensive.
  4. It should not take up much space.

It did not find any stand on the market the fitted the bill so I decided to make my own. The one you see here is what I came up with.

It is very easy to assemble if you have any skill at all in woodworking. The design is not sensitive to precise measures at all, it can vary a lot in size and still be effective. I don't have any drawings for it; I just made it from pieces I had lying around.  It could be a lot prettier, but I am not that good working with my hands. Someday I perhaps carry it to a pro who can copy it and come up with something that looks nice.

It works good, however.

Close up.

Here you can see the simple design.
